Start a Food Recovery Network on Your Campus!

Does your campus have a food recovery program to donate the uneaten leftovers from your dining halls? If you haven't heard of one on your campus, chances are your school is throwing away thousands of pounds of good food every year!

We would like to invite you to start a chapter of the Food Recovery Network. If this is your first time on our blog, FRN is a new and incredibly effective program where students recover the surplus perishable food from their campuses and surrounding communities that would otherwise go to waste and donate it to people in need.

FRN helps the environment by reducing food waste, which is a huge emitter of methane gas (21 times worse than carbon dioxide). And we provide fresher, more nutritious meals to people in need, strengthening our local community. Our four chapters donated 50,000 meals last year!

But, unfortunately, most college dining halls are still throwing all of their surplus food away each night! FRN is now working to empower students at colleges across the nation to jumpstart their own FRN chapters. Starting a new chapter is easy, and we can provide you with a variety of resources and advice to help you get your program off the ground.

Would you be interested in learning more about starting a Food Recovery Network at your college? If not, do you know any student leaders at your school you could forward this to? There's no better time to join this movement!

We hope to hear from you! For more info, please email us today at nationalfrn@gmail.com.
